Too Much Fun Aint Fun
Thursday, October 8, 2026. I think, uh, being a professional musician, rapper in this context, um, you know, behind the scenes, looks very
different to the way that the finished product appears to, um, like, you know, the audience, um, on stage, um, on TV, on our mobile phone screens. You know, even in the music itself, like things look very different.
And, uh, I am talking particularly about, you know, lifestyle and, you know, what is required in order to be able to deliver that professional standard and maintain that professional standard over like, um, you know, the decades to come, essentially for like somebody's entire life, right? And, uh, you know, I think about rap, I think, about hip hop.
I think about how it has been commercially uh, you know, uh, commercially distributed, right?
In some cases, not all cases. I don't want to stereotype in any sense. I think about like, you know, um, you know, that you, you know, the culture, how chaotic it can be, how reckless it can be, how destructive and self-destructive it can be.
Like, you know, alcohol, drugs, um, just effectively, just, you know, basically wilding out all the time. And uh, you know, I really wonder what people think about, you know, when they see these things. Not to say that this is good or bad.
I'm just wondering what people think. Uh, you know, happens when such a lifestyle is maintained over a period of time.
And so essentially what it is that I'm saying, saying, and the reason why I'm recording this reflection is because, you know, I'm here to effectively embrace my vulnerability and recognise that, even though this stuff was really attractive in the beginning, even though it's exciting, it's fun, it's chaotic, it's like, you know, it's invigorating.
It's like, you know, it gives us, it gives us a sense of freedom, a sense of like, you know, you know, you only live one type of mentality.
I really do think that it can be, you know, in the long time something that's very destructive. And so I need to be able to embrace my vulnerability and recognise that. Perhaps, too much fun isn't fun, if I'm being honest.
