Speed Reduction

Friday, the 6th of February 2026 and um, like it's very crazy to think.

It's very crazy to think how much I can notice when I allow myself to slow down. Um, you know, I think I spoke to my daughter today and I think I mentioned something about like, you know, growing and growing isn't something that you do physically is also something that you do mentally.

And even me at my age, you know, am I kind of like adult age, you know? You know, I'm almost scared, like, you know, I'm wondering how long it's going to be before I begin to say senior adult age. You know, I really do begin to notice how, like, you know, I'm still growing myself mentally, of course.

And one thing that I want to focus on today is kind of like focussing on the mind, right? Like we know that we've got this squidgy thing in between our ears called the brain. But we also have this thing called the mind.

You can't see it. You can't hear it. I guess you can only perceive it, or you can only be conscious of it.

And, uh, you know, sometimes, like, you know, when I am able to effectively pay attention to my own thoughts, uh, you know, kind of like almost uh, looking at a river flowing across some, you know, flowing across a, you know, uh, I, I guess uh, I don't know, like a just river flowing across land, whatever you want to call it. You know, sometimes that river is ferocious. It's very unkindly.

You know, it's literally causing meanders across the geography of many landscapes. And, you know, it's very difficult to kind of like see things straight, see things clear, see things with a bit of a, you know, with a calm perspective, and other times it's very still, it's very quiet. It's very benign.

And, um, you know, uh, to be honest, like over the past couple of days, there's been a lot more ferocious than it has been benign.

But I'm trying to do my best to learn how to calm my inner, you know, my inner spirit. Because when I am unable to control it, not that it is ever about control, but whenever I relinquish all the control that I do have, no matter how small, that's when things really begin to kind of like take a turn for the worse.
