Living For Me

2 min read

Sunday, the 27th of September, 2026. So, um, I'm starting to rack up quite a bit of a number for myself in terms of like the projects that um, I've

worked on and the projects that are in work in progress when it comes to songs. I mean, yesterday I mentioned off the record, I know that I have, I ask myself as another single, I know I've got roses.

One of them that I'm thinking of in particular, which is quite fresh. I mean freshly written, still not finished. It's called People Pleaser.

And it's currently like, you know, the song that I'm thinking about at the moment. And, uh, you know, generally speaking what it means to me.

And, uh, you know, it's currently something that I'm going through in life, uh, and I think it, it's effectively centred around, uh, you know, coming to the conclusion and recognising that at the end of the day, I cannot continue to live my life for others indefinitely.

Even if my most intrinsic, selfish goal is to live life for others, it needs to be something that stems from something that I want to do, because I cannot continue to live my life in reflection of what other people like or dislike, what other people want or don't want, which by the way changes itself, like the weather on a regular basis.

I've come to realise that, you know, in my life growing up as a kid, uh, when I look at my behavioural patterns, I live the sort of childhood where I ended up growing up to be quite the pleaser, to be honest with you, always doing things in accordance to, you know, what my mom wanted, what my dad wanted, as opposed to, you know, you know, to escape, uh, you know, the, the, the consequence of their sharp actions or the sharp responses.

And so, with that being said, like, uh, you know, I'm beginning to learn and appreciate that for quite some time.

Um, I've been living in accordance to, you know, what other people want to, you know, out of fear of being rejected, fear of being abandoned, fear of being, uh, you know, left behind, uh, be, you know, unfriended. If that makes sense.

I think it does make sense in a modern context, but yeah, fundamentally, like, uh, I'm definitely, you know, accepting that I need to live life for me.

You know, I need to do what I want to do. I can't continue to live for others. Like, no matter how, you know, much responsibilities I have in my life as a father, husband.

I need to live life for me and be me, you know what I'm saying? Because if I don't, like, like, I'm just gonna end up, you know, you know, living as a shell of myself and just not really living life to its fullest potential.
