False Evidence Appearing Real

Monday the 2nd of March 2025 and you know what I want to talk a little bit about fear. You know there is kind of like an important experience that I had when I was locked up in prison and I spent a significant period of time in prison and with a significant amount of time, a great

deal of experiences and moments, not necessarily passed me by, but I guess a great deal of experiences kind of like take place in that space of time. And there was a time when I was just like sitting in a what they would have called, so it's not a meeting, I wouldn't even say that it was an event.

I would say that it was something like, it's like an activity, that's it, it's like an activity. We had lots of activities in prison because when you're in prison, they don't like you just basically sitting down doing nothing. They used to before because they deemed it kind of like necessary. Well, not necessarily necessary, but they just deemed it like, I guess, acceptable until they realized that perhaps it was no longer beneficial because again there's an expression that goes idleness is the devil's play thing.

So in other words people effectively discovered that keeping people in prison and they're just there idle is not great so they had a lot of activities, education, development you know, kind of like development on mental health and other things and there was this kind of like a company called Ford's Trust and you know there was a time when I was just sitting there, you know, and the words fear was spelled out, you know, it was literally spelled out and as it was being spelled out, right, you know, the lady, I wonder if I can remember her name, actually for the sake of confidentiality I'm

just going to keep her name kind of like what's the word I'm going to use a pseudo name and just say Sarah, she uh spelt it out and she spelt it out as in a fear false evidence appearing real. I want to be able to talk about like fear you know probably won't be able to do that like in a simple snippet but it's effectively kind of like almost, you know, in some cases it is very self explanatory. Treat fear, you know, exactly as it is. I mean I understand in many many cases fear protects us, we've got fight, flight or freeze, you know, we've got that built in our instincts built in our system however for the most part when it comes to kind of like you know our

Emotional health our mental health from the perspective of our emotional and mental health when it comes to our thoughts We should treat fear exactly as it is false like right now How did I start this you know this this a personal reflection? I started it off by saying like you know I'm parked outside my car, you know I'm parked outside my house, it's sunny, literally a clear blue sky and you know there is no danger like around

me you know, so literally I have no reason to fear. But then all of a sudden I bring my focus and my attention to this great big tiger, you know I think about its breath and its growl and its you know mighty teeth and how they might harm me and all of a sudden that generates this emotion this kind of like crazy thought in my mind that I'm in danger and in those instances that's how we should treat fear really and truthfully as though it is literally false evidence appearing real
