Believer of Self Belief

Thursday, the 30th of September 2026. When I was much younger, I never really grasped or appreciated how sensitive I was as an artist. Even when I didn't realise or for the grasp that I was going to be an artist in the 1st place.

And, uh, you know, with that being said, you know, growing up with my friends, I found it really difficult to uh, accept the information that I needed to hear, or when a friend was trying to effectively ground me in some sort of reality. Now, this is when the conversation gets a little bit interesting or the reflection, so to speak.

Because when I did grow up with friends, uh, with my friends, I suppose, um, we all grew up with this insecurity and this uh, confusion as to who you wanted to be and uh, what we wanted to do.

And even if we knew who we wanted to be, we never really had the certainty or the assurance that we were going to be able to do what we wanted to do.

Uh, and one of my core values and core principles, I suppose, although, you know, do bear with me because I do contradict my principles and I do not always stand by my principles because sometimes subconsciously I can too be the uh, version of myself that um, I'm not so fond of looking at in the mirror.

But um, especially at the time when I was much younger, uh, and still now, I definitely am a, uh, firm believer in uh, the value of um, self-belief.

And so, you know, whenever somebody would tell me that they wanted to be something or they wanted to do something, no matter how ridiculous, no matter how delusional, no matter how silly it sounded. If there was somebody that I cared about, even, you know, mildly cared about.

I would charge them, sometimes supercharge them with, you know, you know, with, with, with a massive ounce of self-belief.

Um, and you know, you know, literally a lot of pounds of self-belief.

Um, and I would do that irrespective of whether they were actually going to be in a realistic position to accomplish what um, they were going to accomplish in the 1st place.

And I say this because, You know, for me, you know, the outcome doesn't necessarily matter as much as the show and the tenacity and the determination and the willingness that you show to accomplish that goal in the 1st place, because worst case scenario, you're going to learn something.

One of the things that I really struggled with uh, until this day, like, you know, still feel very frustrated about when I reflect upon it. Was when that same level of, um, you know, enthusiasm wasn't reciprocated towards, you know, my goals and my visions. And uh, 2 people in particular.

You know, uh, one told, you know, one in particular continued to, uh, not emphasise but continued to bring up the idea that what it is, the thing that I'm trying to do is, you know, it's just going to be a phase. Uh, the thing that I'm trying to do is only going to like, uh, you know, that he didn't understand the whole point of it.

The one that hurt me the most really and truthfully was when, you know, I supercharged somebody who didn't have a great deal, you know, was struggling a little bit with the idea of the career that they were trying to go into and I supercharged them.

I told them, of course they could, um, go, go and pursue their career, just basically give it everything that they've got.

Only for me, you know, a couple of weeks later to mention what I wanted to do and for me to be absolutely huffed at for me to be told that, you know, I couldn't be taken serious. You know, you know, I, I, you know, I had mere idea of me being a rapper artist.

So, I suppose the key takeaway from this is 2 things. Um, you know, not all criticism, not all um, opinions, not all views. Um, are there for me to have an emotional outburst for some of them are really there for me to be indifferent about.

But fundamentally, I still stand firm on the belief that, you know, no matter how ridiculous the goal, you know, always feel somebody with assurance and confidence.
