They Are, So I Can Be

Wednesday, the 8th of April, 2026, yeah. And I'm going to find it really hard to record this reflection without laughing. But, um, I've spoken about this a bunch of times and literally, like, the whole reason why anybody has the time, yeah, or the inspiration to be an artist is
because they are in a position to do so. And that is because 100s of 1000s, if not 1000000s of other people, are playing specific roles that gives you the time and the possibility to do what you're doing. So it's like somebody's busy being a plumber, somebody's busy being an electrician. Somebody's busy being like, you know, a delivery driver.
Somebody's busy fulfilling a role that keeps the infrastructure of this economy and this whole existence that we call life. You know, it keeps it alive in other words. So much so to the point where you might be in a position.
Maybe your parents are paying your rent. Maybe somebody is providing the housing. Like, you know, there's a government, there's a system in place for you to be able to do whatever it is that you want to do.
And the truth of the matter is, is that the reason why I, me, you or anybody else, has the time and space and capacity to just be an artist is because that space and time has been provided. It has been given.
Because if it wasn't given, you know, an in London urban context, you would be getting smoked, like, as in life's adversities, you'd be too busy dealing with life, life's adversities in the business of trying to find food, water, shelter, you know, fulfilling your Masdow's hierarchy of needs.
Like you would be so busy, you'd be so entrenched in the process of just trying to keep yourself alive. that you wouldn't have time to be playing about with pixels on Photoshop or trying to string together music or whatever it is, like honestly, I just feel like that's just the reality of it, if I'm being honest.
You know, you putting up posts on Instagram and all of these other things. You just wouldn't have the time for it.
You wouldn't have the time or the capacity for it. So I just want, uh, you know, I just want to appreciate the position that I'm at, what I'm doing, what I'm doing, and I want you to be able to understand that, like, you know, there is definitely gratitude, you know, to be dished out for the position that you're in.
