Unsafe Thoughts
Monday, the ninth of March 2026. And I really want to reflect over the idea of what it means to be a good person. And if I'm being honest, I think that the idea of being a good person is unsafe and sometimes quite dangerous.
If I'm being honest, if I'm being honest, I also believe that the idea of being a good person can be quite, uh, not necessarily dangerous, but I suppose, yes, I mean, I have said dangerous. I was looking for a specific word. In any case, here's the reason why I believe it is unsafe.
Here is the reason why I believe it is dangerous. is because it often blinds us from our capacity to often not be good if I'm being sincere. It often, you know, makes us blind to the reality that in, in the given circumstance, in the given moment, in the given situation or objective, where something needs to be done.
We all do carry the capacity to be something other than good.
And of course, we can all be good intended. I can be good intended, but ultimately, I tend to find that in given situations and circumstances, I often look for a result or I often look for an accomplishment that is intrinsically selfish.
Unfortunately, I don't like to be led by the idea that I am a good person.
I like to be led by the idea that I am a person trying to be good and remain good. And it isn't something that is always possible.
Unfortunately, give it the nature of the environment that we live in, given the nature of the world that we have established for ourselves.
You know, goodness sometimes seems to me like not necessarily a luxury, but privilege. So it's almost as though the moment you have everything set right for you, you know, you don't need to struggle to survive like our people in 3rd world countries need to survive. You have the option to be a good person.
You have the option to be kind, you see? And that's often at times where I find the idea of being good or saying to myself that I'm a good person. I can find the idea to be quite dangerous.
